So, I finally finished that documentary on Broke City and it damn near killed me. I actually finished it about a month ago and I've just recently recovered.
It was a rough production schedule and there was no post-production proper. I was shooting like eight hours a day and then going home to edit for eight hours. This went on for about three months straight. The band was working hard and I had to keep up. I even had a few multiple day all-nighters toward the end of editing, sleeping around three hours in four days.
In the end it turned out pretty great. Both I and the band are happy with what we were able to come up with. For now, we're just waiting for any Maverick Records notes or concerns from the Warner Brothers legal department. The word is that the album and the DVD will be coming out mid-Summer 2006. As you can imagine, we're all really amped for that.
I’d be remiss not to give a huge ‘thank you’ to Joel Pack for thinking of me for this project and Branden Steineckert for really getting behind that decision. It can be a strain to work with friends sometimes, but I’m really appreciative for the chance to be a part of this collaboration. Much thanks to the band, their management, and Maverick Records. Also, thanks to William and Sharon Rowan, Todd Tanner, Rachel Mae Ligairi, and all the other people that leant me a helping hand while on this shoot.
So, now that's over and I'm ready to be a normal person again for awhile. I'm just hanging out, putting the final touches on a script that Todd Tanner and I have had in the works for about three years, and I'm attempting an experimental feature called Temple City with William Rowan on the weekends. More news on those projects (and a Broke City teaser trailer) to come.
